Nature of Appointment:
Part-time (Hourly-based appointment for specific semester and/or year subjects)
Appointed on an hourly basis for teaching, learning, assessment, and related administration
Remuneration:
Hourly rates based on qualifications and experience (2025 rates):
Junior Lecturer: R278 per hour
Lecturer: R341 per hour
Senior Lecturer: R417 per hour
Associate Professor / Professor: R571 per hour

Purpose of the Job
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in the field of Life Sciences and contribute to the development of academic material and practical facilitation for undergraduate students.
Key Responsibilities
Lecture and facilitate tutorials in assigned subject fields.
Develop and update course content, including lecture notes, reading materials, and multimedia.
Design and administer assessments (formative and summative, including quizzes and assignments).
Facilitate practical components for relevant modules.
Conduct related academic administration, such as student performance tracking and attendance.
Participate in control and organization of teaching-related activities.
Subject Fields
One or more of the following:
Science I (Theory & Practical)
Chemistry I (Theory & Practical)
Anatomy & Physiology I (Theory & Practical)
Microbiology I (Theory & Practical)
Generic-based subjects
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Required: BTech / Honours degree in a relevant Life Sciences field
Preferred: Master’s or Doctorate degree
Previous lecturing or teaching experience (advantageous)
Experience with electronic education platforms, especially Blackboard (recommended)
Mode of Delivery
Lectures are primarily conducted in-person at the Bloemfontein campus.
Remote or hybrid formats may be adopted if necessary.
Flexibility is essential due to potential changes in delivery and assessment methods.
Lecturers must provide their own laptop computers.
Availability during scheduled class hours is required, which may include evening sessions.
