The role requires a legal professional with strong fiduciary experience who can independently handle complex estate matters, particularly those involving high-net-worth clients, business entities, or farming enterprises. The Estate Specialist ensures that estates are administered accurately, efficiently, and within all regulatory requirements.
Job Description
The Estate Specialist will oversee the end-to-end administration of deceased estates, ensuring all processes follow legal frameworks and industry best practices.
Estate Administration
Manage the full lifecycle of deceased estates, from onboarding to finalisation.
Ensure compliance with the Administration of Estates Act 66 of 1965 and other legal requirements.
Prepare and manage estate documentation and legal filings.
Ensure estate matters are handled accurately, professionally, and within deadlines.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong client relationships, particularly with beneficiaries and high-net-worth clients.
Manage customer queries, escalations, and complex estate matters.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders involved in estate administration.
Legal & Financial Analysis
Analyse complex estate cases using legal and fiduciary knowledge.
Apply knowledge of estate duty, capital gains tax, and income tax related to deceased estates.
Manage estates involving business entities, investments, or farming operations.
Risk & Compliance
Ensure estate administration processes follow risk and compliance standards within the financial services industry.
Identify potential legal or regulatory risks and implement appropriate controls.
Maintain proper documentation and audit trails.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
LLB Degree (Essential)
CFP – Certified Financial Planner (Advantageous)
Experience
5–8 years’ experience administering complex deceased estates.
Experience working in a fiduciary or estate administration environment.
Experience dealing with high-net-worth clients.
Experience managing estates involving businesses or farming enterprises is advantageous.
