    The position combines strategic business development, financial analysis, due diligence, and deal negotiation to secure new banking relationships and support the bank’s growth strategy.

    Job Description

    The Structured Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing new clients, managing acquisition deals, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring successful onboarding of new banking relationships.

    Client Acquisition & Business Development

    • Identify and target potential clients who do not currently bank with Absa.

    • Build relationships with business owners and decision-makers to convert them into Absa clients.

    • Conduct meetings to understand client business operations and financial needs.

    • Present and sell suitable banking products such as:

      • Transactional banking

      • Working capital solutions

      • Debt and lending facilities

      • Global markets products

      • Retail and Business Banking solutions

    Deal Management & Client Service Teams

    • Use the Client Service Team (CST) process to structure financial solutions for new clients.

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including:

      • Credit teams

      • Product specialists

      • Operations and support teams

    • Manage active transactions and ensure solutions are delivered efficiently and professionally.

    • Prepare credit applications and facility approval documentation.

    Due Diligence

    • Conduct detailed due diligence assessments on potential clients or acquisition opportunities.

    • Review:

      • Financial statements

      • Legal documentation

      • Operational performance

      • Market position

    • Identify risks, opportunities, and possible synergies.

    Financial Analysis & Valuation

    • Perform financial modelling and valuation analysis to assess business opportunities.

    • Analyse business performance, revenue potential, and financial sustainability.

    • Provide insights that support strategic decision-making.

    Deal Structuring & Negotiation

    • Structure acquisition agreements using suitable payment methods such as:

      • Cash

      • Debt financing

      • Hybrid structures

    • Negotiate terms with business owners and stakeholders.

    • Work with legal teams to ensure proper documentation and contractual compliance.

    Risk & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with Absa’s risk management policies and lending procedures.

    • Take ownership of the credit process in collaboration with Credit Analysts (CA team).

    • Operate within the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

    Operational & Industry Awareness

    • Stay updated on banking industry trends, legislation, and regulatory developments.

    • Ensure knowledge of financial products, risk policies, and acquisition strategies remains current.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required)
