Job Overview:
The Free State Provincial Treasury seeks a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director: Asset Management to manage and oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of asset and inventory management strategies across provincial departments and entities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with financial legislation and improving asset governance across the province.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain asset and inventory management policies, strategies, and systems.
Provide support and monitoring to departments and public entities on the safeguarding, financial management, and reporting of assets and inventory.
Promote transparent and cost-effective disposal practices for provincial assets.
Coordinate and facilitate the capacitation of asset and inventory management personnel within departments and entities.
Manage the asset and inventory oversight component/team, including planning, reporting, and performance management.
Minimum Requirements:
A three-year Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:
Financial Management, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
Must have Accounting III as a major subject.
5 years’ experience in an accounting environment, with a minimum of 3 years at Assistant Director or supervisory level.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of the following:
Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA)
Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
Treasury Regulations
Division of Revenue Act
Municipal Structures Act
Strong skills in:
Leadership
Report writing & analysis
Project and conflict management
Presentation & communication
Computer literacy (MS Office and relevant systems)
Valid driver’s license
Salary Package:
R896,436.00 per annum – All-Inclusive Flexible Remuneration Package
Includes basic salary, pension contribution, and a flexible portion (may include 13th cheque, housing allowance, motor vehicle allowance, and medical aid).
