Tender Overview
The NHLS Universitas Bloemfontein is seeking a qualified service provider for a one-time service of Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) and filters.
The objective is to ensure proper decontamination, certification, and maintenance of all BSC cabinets, maintaining laboratory safety, compliance with national/international standards, and operational integrity.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for:
- Decontamination:
- Use safe and effective methods (e.g., hydrogen peroxide)
- Ensure minimal disruption to laboratory operations
- Certification:
- Verify cabinet integrity, HEPA filter leaks, airflow, negative pressure, smoke pattern, alarms, and interlocks
- Perform testing according to EN12469 and NSF/ASI 49 standards
- Maintenance:
- Replace HEPA filters only when required
- Provide calibration and verification certificates for documentation
- Documentation:
- Submit service reports, test results, and calibration certificates
- Ensure traceability of equipment testing to national standards
Technical Requirements
- Decontamination using hydrogen peroxide with appropriate safety protocols
- Certification performed by qualified technicians trained in EN12469 and NSF/ASI 49
- Proper inspection and testing of airflow, containment, alarms, and interlocks
- Replacement of HEPA filters only when necessary, matching specified models
- Provision of calibration certificates for testing equipment
Skills & Eligibility Requirements
- Qualified technical staff with EN12469 and NSF/ASI 49 training/certification
- Proven experience in decontamination and certification of BSC cabinets
- Ability to provide accurate testing, calibration, and performance documentation
- Submission of CVs for at least 3 personnel, including 2 SCM consultants and 1 project manager
- References and proof of previous similar projects
