Tender Overview
Transnet SOC Ltd is inviting suitably qualified service providers to submit quotations for the maintenance and servicing of fire equipment at the Transnet Pipelines Kroonstad Depot.
The appointment will be for a one-off maintenance and servicing engagement, with the successful bidder expected to ensure that the facility’s fire protection equipment remains operational, compliant with applicable safety requirements and ready for emergency use.
Scope of Work
The successful service provider will be responsible for comprehensive maintenance and servicing of fire equipment at the designated Kroonstad facility. The work is expected to include:
- Inspection of fire protection equipment.
- Testing and maintenance of applicable fire safety assets.
- Servicing and repair where required.
- Ensuring equipment meets applicable operational requirements.
- Certification of serviced equipment upon completion.
- Completion of all required maintenance activities within the agreed timeframe.
- Compliance with Transnet’s operational, safety and security requirements.

Technical and Compliance Requirements
Bidders should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in commercial and industrial fire equipment maintenance.
- Access to appropriately qualified and certified fire safety technicians and engineers.
- Ability to inspect, test, repair and certify fire protection equipment.
- Compliance with applicable South African fire safety standards and industry best practices.
- Compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Ability to complete the required work within the stipulated timeframe.
- Compliance with Transnet supply chain management requirements.
- Tax compliance.
- Compliance with anti-collusion and anti-bribery requirements.
- Ability to provide valid certification and compliance documentation after servicing.
Pricing and Evaluation
Pricing must be submitted using the mandatory system-generated pricing schedule provided through the procurement process. Alternative quotation formats may result in disqualification.
The tender indicates an 80/20 preference-point evaluation, with 80 points allocated to price and 20 points to B-BBEE status. Additional preference provisions include points for qualifying B-BBEE Level 1 or 2 contributors and Black Youth-Owned entities, subject to the required supporting documentation.
