Main Purpose of the Role
To manage all warehousing and transport operations at PFG Building Glass — ensuring a safe, efficient, and sustainable logistics operation that supports PFG’s customers and business objectives across all markets.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and develop warehouse personnel, including performance management and skills development.
Review, benchmark, and implement systems to improve warehouse and transport efficiency.
Coordinate logistics operations across PG Group divisions to create synergy and strategic value.
Develop and implement new processes, packaging, transport equipment, and business systems in line with evolving business needs.
Oversee inventory and distribution activities in and out of warehouses — including shared facilities.
Deliver accurate, timely operational and financial reports, highlighting risks and opportunities.
Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO 9000).
Drive World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
Ensure effective order execution and alignment with PFG’s business integration plan.
Manage the departmental budget, costs, and develop a 3-year Capex plan for logistics improvements.
Enforce health and safety standards (OSH Act compliance) across all logistics operations.
Support customers and PG Group companies in setting up new operations — including facility layout, material handling, and staff training for safe glass handling.
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 12 (Matric)
BCom Degree in Industrial Engineering or Logistics Management
Experience Requirements
8–10 years in operational management within a supply chain or manufacturing environment
5 years in general management in logistics or manufacturing
Proven experience in:
Warehouse and transport management
Planning and procurement
Implementing WCM and CI projects
Working knowledge of Six Sigma
Knowledge Areas
Relevant legislation: LRA, OSH Act, Road Traffic Act
SAP modules (SD, PP, MM)
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, BI)
Warehouse, transport, and supply chain management
