    Responsibilities:

    • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in pastoral theology, pastoral care, and counselling.

    • Conduct and publish research in peer-reviewed and DHET-accredited journals.

    • Present research at conferences and source funding from local and international bodies.

    • Supervise Master’s and PhD students.

    • Contribute to departmental and faculty leadership and administration.

    • Engage in community involvement, interdisciplinary research, and professional development activities.

    Qualifications:

    Lecturer:

    • Master’s degree in Practical Theology (specialising in Pastoral Care and Counselling) OR PhD (preferred).

    • Academic record showing research potential.

    • Conference presentations and manuscripts with publication potential.

    Senior Lecturer:

    • PhD in Practical Theology (Pastoral Care and Counselling) or related field.

    • Proven research output in accredited journals.

    • National recognition in the field.

    • Experience supervising Master’s students.

    Associate Professor:

    • PhD in Practical Theology (Pastoral Care and Counselling) or related field.

    • Proven research leadership, NRF rating (C3 or equivalent), and strong publication record.

    • Editorial board membership or leadership in scholarly societies.

    • Supervision of Master’s students and active involvement in higher education research networks.

    Recommendations (Advantageous):

    • Registration with HPCSA as a general counsellor.

    • Registration with the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counselling (CPSC) or ACRP.

    • Practical counselling and community engagement experience.

    • Teaching experience in higher education.

    • Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard).

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • Leadership and the ability to build professional networks.

    • Proficiency in MS Office and digital teaching tools.
