Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Computer Science and/or Information Systems.

Supervise honours students and co-supervise master’s students.

Conduct research in one or more of the department’s focus areas:

Business Intelligence and Text Mining

Eye-Tracking Applications

Human-Computer Interaction and Extended Reality

Digital Inclusion and Community Engagement in IT

Publish high-quality research outputs in accredited peer-reviewed journals.

Contribute to curriculum development and innovation within the department.

Participate in community engagement and outreach initiatives.

Undertake administrative responsibilities at department and faculty level.
Minimum Requirements
-
PhD (NQF Level 10) in Computer Science, Informatics, or related discipline (for permanent appointment).
OR -
Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Computer Science, Informatics, or related discipline (for a 5-year contract appointment, with the requirement to complete a PhD to be converted to a permanent position).

Experience in lecturing at undergraduate level.

Proven experience in conference presentations (poster/oral).

Evidence of manuscripts with potential for publication in accredited journals.

A strong academic record.
Recommendations

Specialisation in Software Development, Computer Networking, or Mobile App Development.

Ability to teach across Information Systems, Computer Science, and Software Engineering.

A track record of research outputs.
