Duties and Responsibilities

Lecturing and Student Engagement: The core responsibility of the part-time lecturer is to deliver high-quality lectures aligned with the specific requirements of the module. They will engage with students to ensure they understand the subject matter, thus facilitating a meaningful learning experience. In addition to this, the lecturer will be responsible for preparing students for their assessments and examinations by providing guidance and resources.

Assessment and Student Support: The lecturer will track student engagement and assessment submissions, ensuring that students stay on top of their academic responsibilities. They will also be tasked with identifying at-risk students, providing additional support, and offering tailored interventions where necessary. By reviewing and analyzing student results, the lecturer will play an integral role in improving academic performance across the module.

Academic Administration and Resource Management: The role also involves managing academic materials and resources. This includes collaborating with the Information Centre to ensure that students have the necessary tools for their studies. The lecturer will be required to update the learning management system (LMS), ensuring that students have access to relevant learning materials and receive timely feedback.

Professional Development and Reflection: As part of their academic role, the lecturer will engage in ongoing professional development. This ensures that the lecturer continues to improve their teaching practices and contributes to the overall teaching-learning environment at Rosebank College. Reflecting on student performance and adapting teaching methods are essential elements of this role.

Collaboration and Meetings: Attending academic meetings and collaborating with the Programme Coordinator and Central Academic Team is also a key part of the lecturer’s responsibilities. These meetings offer a chance to reflect on teaching strategies, review student progress, and discuss ways to improve the learning experience.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the position, applicants should meet the following criteria:

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree, Honours, or Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or Fine Arts is required. A qualification in Education (PGCE or equivalent) or Training and Development will be an added advantage. Candidates should also have a flair for online lecturing and be comfortable using learning management systems (LMS).

Experience: Applicants should have at least 1-3 years of industry experience in Graphic Design or a related field, along with experience in lecturing or tutoring. This combination of practical experience and teaching ability is essential for success in this role.
