Purpose of the Role
The HR Partner is responsible for executing and delivering MTN’s people agenda within the Central Region. This includes implementing HR strategies, policies, and operational HR functions to enable business performance and transformation.
The role acts as a frontline HR generalist and strategic enabler across all HR disciplines — employee relations, performance, talent management, organisational development, learning, and remuneration — while ensuring alignment with MTN’s national HR strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance & Reporting

Participate in tactical HR and business meetings.

Provide input on transformation initiatives, risk mitigation, and control frameworks.

Prepare documentation for decisions and sign-offs.
-
Escalate and resolve HR-related issues impacting service delivery.
-
Provide regular progress and performance reports to management.
2. Operational HR Delivery
-
Support the implementation of MTN’s people strategy and regional HR initiatives.

Execute HR processes across organisation design, workforce planning, performance, talent, and leadership development.
3. Employee Relations
-
Facilitate disciplinary, grievance, and appeal hearings.
-
Ensure compliance with MTN policies and South African labour legislation.

Provide line management with guidance on ER policies and practices.
4. Recruitment & Onboarding
-
Manage regional recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
-
Conduct competency assessments and participate in interviews.
-
Support induction, orientation, and exit processes.
-
Compile quarterly exit interview trend reports.
-
Ensure compliance with Employment Equity policies and headcount budgets.
5. Performance & Talent Management
-
Implement and monitor the Integrated Performance Framework (IPF).

Support managers and employees with goal setting, reviews, and performance improvement plans.

Facilitate succession planning and career pathing.

Drive regional talent management strategies.
6. Organisational Design & Learning
-
Develop and maintain job profiles per MTN methodology.

Coordinate L&D, OD, and culture alignment initiatives.

Manage manpower planning and structure optimisation.

Facilitate feedback and focus group sessions on organisational initiatives.
7. HR Policy & Relationship Management
-
Educate and advise on HR policies and procedures.

Equip line managers with HR knowledge and tools.

Foster a positive, trust-based employee culture.
8. Remuneration & Payroll Support

Advise on remuneration issues and manage related costs.

Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
-
Monitor overtime and drive cost optimisation.
9. Regional HR Support

Act as the regional HR generalist, representing all HR Centres of Excellence (COEs).

Collaborate with Senior HR Business Partners to execute regional people plans.
-
Ensure alignment between regional operations and national HR strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualification:

3-year tertiary degree or diploma in:

Human Resources

Behavioural Sciences
-
Business Studies / Management
-
or Equivalent
-
Minimum Experience:
-
3+ years HR experience in a telecommunications or large corporate environment.

Strong background in OD, performance management, talent management, and workforce planning.
-
Proven project management and stakeholder partnership skills.
-
Exposure to multi-cultural, cross-regional environments.
-
Experience in medium to large organisations is essential.
