Job Description
The Warehouse Operator is responsible for accurately selecting products based on picking instructions, securely packing orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring warehouse operations are carried out safely and efficiently. The role also involves operating warehouse equipment, reporting stock shortages, maintaining a clean workspace, and contributing to excellent customer service through accurate order fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
Order Picking and Packing
- Accurately pick loose case and layer products according to picking instructions.
- Pack products securely using the correct packaging materials.
- Ensure products are labelled correctly and meet quality standards.
- Maximise pallet stability for safe transportation and delivery.
Inventory Control
- Count and verify picked items to ensure order accuracy.
- Report out-of-stock or short-picked items during the picking process.
- Work closely with the inventory control team to resolve stock discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
Warehouse Operations
- Operate an Electric Pallet Jack and other picking equipment safely.
- Navigate the warehouse efficiently to locate products.
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and free from hazards.
- Report damaged products, packaging issues, or incorrect labelling.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
- Wear and use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Promote a safe working environment and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Operate warehouse equipment according to safety standards.
Teamwork and Continuous Improvement
- Participate in training sessions to improve warehouse skills.
- Contribute to achieving team productivity goals.
- Support and promote Econo Foods’ HO HOLA Culture through teamwork, respect, and positive collaboration.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a similar warehouse picking role.
- Experience within the FMCG retail industry will be an advantage.
- Valid Electric Pallet Jack Licence.
