    Job Description

    The Training Officer is responsible for presenting, facilitating, assessing, and monitoring training interventions within the security industry. The role ensures that all learning programmes, assessments, and training activities comply with legislative requirements, quality assurance standards, industry regulations, and company policies.

    The successful candidate will facilitate learning, assess learner competence, provide coaching and mentorship, and ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory bodies such as SASSETA, PSIRA, ETDP SETA, QCTO, and the Department of Labour.

    Purpose of the Role

    To present, facilitate, and assess training interventions within the designated area of responsibility while ensuring compliance with best practices, quality assurance standards, and applicable legislative requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Training Facilitation and Delivery

    • Present and facilitate training interventions according to approved curricula and learning programmes.
    • Deliver training in accordance with internal quality management systems and industry best practices.
    • Ensure learners receive effective instruction and support throughout training programmes.
    • Promote learner participation and engagement during training sessions.

    Assessment and Evaluation

    • Conduct assessments in line with approved unit standards and qualification requirements.
    • Evaluate learner competence against learning outcomes.
    • Ensure assessments are fair, valid, reliable, and compliant with quality assurance standards.
    • Maintain assessment records and supporting documentation.

    Learner Coaching and Mentorship

    • Coach and mentor learners participating in learnership programmes.
    • Provide guidance to ensure successful achievement of learning outcomes.
    • Monitor learner progress and address development needs.
    • Support learners in achieving competence within their programmes.

    Compliance and Quality Assurance

    • Ensure compliance with:
      • SASSETA requirements
      • PSIRA regulations
      • ETDP SETA standards
      • QCTO requirements
      • Department of Labour regulations
      • Internal company policies and procedures
    • Adhere to approved learning programmes, assessment methodologies, and quality standards.
    • Maintain accurate records for audit and accreditation purposes.

    Administration and Reporting

    • Complete training administration accurately and timeously.
    • Maintain learner records and assessment documentation.
    • Prepare reports as required by management and quality assurance bodies.
    • Ensure proper filing and record management.

    Minimum Requirements

    Educational Qualification

    • Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.

    Driver’s Licence

    • Valid Code EB Driver’s Licence.

    Computer Literacy

    • Proficiency in:
      • Microsoft Windows
      • Microsoft Word
      • Microsoft Excel
      • Microsoft Office Suite

    Required Accreditations and Registrations

    Security Industry Requirements

    • PSIRA Grades E–A Instructor Certification.
    • PFTC Instructor Accreditation (All Firearm Categories).

    ETDP SETA Requirements

    • Registered Facilitator with ETDP SETA.
    • Registered Assessor with:
      • ETDP SETA
      • SASSETA

    Additional Advantage

    • Registered Moderator with:

    Qualifications

    • General Security Practices (GSO) Qualification – NQF Level 3.
    • Specialist Security Practices Qualification – NQF Level 4 (advantageous).
