Job Description
Clicks Group is seeking a qualified and customer-focused Pharmacist Assistant to join its team at Clicks Welkom Shopping Centre in the Free State.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care services within their authorised scope of practice and performing daily dispensary administration in accordance with the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The role involves assisting customers with pharmaceutical products, maintaining accurate stock records, supporting medicine preparation and repacking, providing general health advice and ensuring that the dispensary operates efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service and professional care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide pharmaceutical care services within the authorised scope of practice.
Deliver excellent customer service and patient care.
Assist with efficient stock control and dispensary administration.
Repack medicines according to applicable procedures and requirements.
Perform accurate compounding within the permitted scope of practice.
Provide customers with general health advice within the limits of the role.
Maintain accurate dispensary records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with the company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness.
Ensure merchandise and pharmaceutical products are properly displayed.
Assist with additional duties as required by operational needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics – essential.
Must meet the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) requirements for the applicable Pharmacist Assistant level:
Pharmacist Assistant (Qualified).
Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic).
Pharmacist Assistant (Learner Basic).
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Product knowledge of health aisle products and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.
Knowledge of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) requirements and relevant legislation.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
High levels of integrity and ethical conduct.
Compliance with professional and workplace standards.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Basic mathematical and calculation skills.
Computer literacy and knowledge of IT business operating systems.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
