    Job Description

    The Spray Painter position at MAN Automotive (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd involves preparing, painting, and finishing vehicle surfaces to maintain high-quality appearance and repair standards within the workshop environment.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for spray-painting vehicle bodies, performing touch-ups and repairs, coordinating paint colours accurately, and ensuring spraying equipment is properly used and maintained.

    Main Responsibilities

    Vehicle Spray Painting

    • Apply paint to the main body of vehicles.
    • Perform spray painting according to company quality standards.
    • Carry out striping and black spray applications where required.
    • Ensure smooth, clean, and professional paint finishes.

    Surface Preparation

    • Prepare vehicle surfaces before spraying.
    • Use tack wipes and other preparation materials correctly.
    • Sand, clean, and inspect surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.

    Repairs and Touch-Ups

    • Perform paint touch-ups and repairs on damaged areas.
    • Correct paint imperfections and maintain appearance standards.
    • Ensure colour consistency during repairs.

    Paint and Equipment Management

    • Coordinate and match paint colours accurately.
    • Monitor and maintain spraying tools and machines.
    • Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and safely operated.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
    • Certificate in Spray Painting or equivalent qualification

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar spray-painting role

    Required Skills and Competencies

    Technical Skills

    • Knowledge of spray-painting techniques and equipment
    • Understanding of paint preparation and colour matching
    • Ability to operate spraying machines effectively
