Job Description
The Spray Painter position at MAN Automotive (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd involves preparing, painting, and finishing vehicle surfaces to maintain high-quality appearance and repair standards within the workshop environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for spray-painting vehicle bodies, performing touch-ups and repairs, coordinating paint colours accurately, and ensuring spraying equipment is properly used and maintained.
Main Responsibilities
Vehicle Spray Painting
- Apply paint to the main body of vehicles.
- Perform spray painting according to company quality standards.
- Carry out striping and black spray applications where required.
- Ensure smooth, clean, and professional paint finishes.
Surface Preparation
- Prepare vehicle surfaces before spraying.
- Use tack wipes and other preparation materials correctly.
- Sand, clean, and inspect surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
Repairs and Touch-Ups
- Perform paint touch-ups and repairs on damaged areas.
- Correct paint imperfections and maintain appearance standards.
- Ensure colour consistency during repairs.
Paint and Equipment Management
- Coordinate and match paint colours accurately.
- Monitor and maintain spraying tools and machines.
- Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and safely operated.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Certificate in Spray Painting or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar spray-painting role
