    Job Overview / Description

    A luxury lodge in the Bloemfontein area is seeking a Wildlife Coordinator to join their Reserve Team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about conservation, wildlife management, rewilding, biodiversity monitoring, and long-term environmental sustainability.

    The position is open to a single candidate or a couple, provided the partner can fill a Front of House role. Live-in accommodation is provided.

     Job Summary

    The Wildlife Coordinator will implement conservation strategies, manage wildlife data and monitoring programmes, support rewilding initiatives, and mentor conservation staff. This role combines fieldwork, project management, scientific analysis, and community engagement to ensure the reserve’s ecological goals are achieved.

     Key Responsibilities

    Conservation & Wildlife Management

    • Implement and drive conservation strategies for the reserve.

    • Conduct biodiversity assessments and monitor wildlife populations.

    • Oversee re-wilding projects and animal habituation.

    • Apply knowledge of dangerous game behaviour for safe management.

    Data & Reporting

    • Manage conservation data and compile scientific reports.

    • Support long-term ecological planning and monitoring frameworks.

    Leadership & Training

    • Lead, motivate, and mentor conservation and reserve staff.

    • Raise awareness around sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

    General Operations

    • Collaborate with the Reserve Team on day-to-day conservation tasks.

    • Assist with general maintenance where required.

     Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • A degree in Wildlife Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science or a related field.

    Experience

    • Proven experience in:

      • Conservation management

      • Game reserve operations

      • Wildlife breeding, tracking, and hunting environments

      • Biodiversity monitoring

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong analytical, scientific, and data-management abilities.

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and regional conservation challenges.

    • Project management skills.

    • Maintenance knowledge (advantageous).
