Job Purpose:
The Strata Control Officer will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining ground stability in a hard rock underground mining environment. This role ensures safety compliance and contributes to the optimal extraction of mineral resources by applying advanced strata control techniques and assessments.
Key Responsibilities:

Implement and monitor strata control systems and standards

Conduct geotechnical inspections and audits underground

Provide input into ground support strategies and layouts
-
Assist with the interpretation of geological data

Ensure compliance with safety and mining regulations
-
Prepare and maintain accurate geotechnical records and reports

Support the mine’s rock engineering and geotechnical planning
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 12 / Matric certificate
-
Degree in Geology or Mining Engineering

Chamber of Mines Certificate in Strata Control (Metalliferous Mines)
Experience Required:
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Strata Control Officer

Must have worked in a Hard Rock underground mining environment
-
Gold mining experience is an added advantage
