Job Description
VKB Group is seeking a Silo Manager to oversee the profitable and efficient management of the Reitz silo facility.
The role focuses on:
- Grain storage and handling
- Inventory management
- Grain quality control
- Safety compliance
- Infrastructure and operational management
The successful candidate will ensure safe and efficient silo operations while supporting organisational and strategic objectives.
Main Responsibilities
Grain and Silo Operations
- Monitor grain flow continuously.
- Ensure continuous grain protection through fumigation.
- Monitor grain tube temperatures and report deviations.
- Measure grain tubes according to policy and safety regulations.
- Operate the silo according to VKB policies and regulations.
Inventory and Quality Management
- Manage grain inventory accurately.
- Oversee grain handling and storage quality.
- Ensure proper stock control and recordkeeping.
Financial and Administrative Management
- Manage input trade duties.
- Handle silo administration and operational reporting.
- Support financial management and operational efficiency.
Infrastructure and General Management
- Oversee silo infrastructure maintenance.
- Ensure equipment and facilities operate safely and efficiently.
- Manage day-to-day silo operations and staff activities.
Customer Service
- Maintain professional relationships with producers and customers.
- Ensure quality service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
- Successful completion of the New Manager’s Programme (or relevant equivalent).
- 3–5 years proven industry management experience.
- Completion of:
- Grain grading courses
- Silo operating courses
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
