Job Purpose
To deliver, implement, and manage departmental business plans that support the merchandise strategy of the business. The Product Planner is responsible for driving results through data-driven planning, ensuring optimal stock levels, forecasting, replenishment, and assortment planning to meet departmental growth and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
Business Planning & Strategy
Deliver and implement departmental business plans aligned to the merchandise strategy.
Manage departmental forecasts to achieve growth and profitability targets.
Prepare and deliver merchandise assortment plans supporting signed-off business strategy.
Stock & Replenishment
Ensure sufficient inflows to maintain agreed replenishment service levels.
Monitor and control stock to meet business plan objectives.
Provide accurate and timely merchandise information to reduce risk and maximise opportunities.
Project & Operational Execution
Execute and manage project plans to achieve agreed objectives (where applicable).
Provide accurate reporting and insights for decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential:
Grade 12 / Matric
Preferred:
B.Com / B.Sc degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or Business Science
National Diploma majoring in Internal Auditing and Cost & Management Accounting
National Diploma in Financial Information Systems
Required Experience
2–3 years’ experience in product planning within a retail and/or FMCG environment (essential)
Replenishment and assortment planning experience
Prior store planning experience
1–2 years’ store management experience
Exposure to logistics and supply chain processes
Experience using planning systems
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel advanced proficiency is an advantage)
