Job Overview / Description
The University of the Free State (UFS) invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Officer (Post Level 11) within the Institutional Social Support Office (ISSO). The role supports the ISSO’s digitisation and administration processes, manages case management systems, coordinates student wellbeing programs, and supports institutional events and communications.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring effective system functionality, maintaining accurate reports and statistics, supporting student engagements and international delegations, and assisting with marketing and communication activities. The position requires strong IT and administrative skills, experience in higher education environments, and the ability to coordinate across multiple institutional stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
System & Digital Support
Liaise between ICT and external developers to support ISSO digitisation
Monitor the case management system and escalate issues
Extract and compile monthly case statistics for reporting
Support application development for divisional programs
Program Coordination
Manage student delegations for international engagements
Support pre-departure training via Blackboard for the Global Citizenship Programme
Coordinate pre-departure workshops with stakeholders
Event & Summit Support
Serve as a key contributor to the UFS Student Well-Being Summit
Develop registration processes and manage delegate data
Maintain delegate records (dietary needs, accessibility requirements, invoices, etc.)
Reporting & Administration
Prepare ISSO reports and bereavement reports
Coordinate with various institutional departments
Assist with administrative tasks delegated by the Head of Department
Communication & Marketing
Work with DCM to update ISSO webpages and social media
Ensure compliance with UFS branding
Develop and maintain ISSO newsletters
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma / BTech / Postgraduate Certificate (NQF Level 7) in an IT-related field
Experience
Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
At least 1 year experience in Higher Education within an IT environment
Driving Requirement
Valid driver’s license with minimum 1 year driving experience (copy required)
Recommendations (Advantageous)
Knowledge of university systems, policies and procedures
Advanced project management experience
Experience with content management systems and cloud platforms

Salary & Benefits
Annual remuneration package:
R447,323.31 – R562,750.48 per annum
(depending on experience and qualifications)
