    Job Purpose

    Install, maintain, repair, and optimise electrical, mechanical, and automated plant equipment. Ensure production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. Perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and improve plant performance. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment. Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Installation and Maintenance

    • Install, test, commission, maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
    • Repair and replace faulty electrical and mechanical components.
    • Manufacture, fit, and repair machine components where required.
    • Maintain plant infrastructure, including buildings, machinery, and site facilities.

    Fault Finding and Repairs

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults involving:
      • Electric motors.
      • Pumps.
      • Gearboxes.
      • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
      • Hydraulic systems.
      • Pneumatic systems.
    • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
    • Reduce production downtime through effective maintenance and repairs.

    Automation and Plant Systems

    • Maintain and support automation systems.
    • Service electrical installations in accordance with applicable standards.
    • Improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
    • Support plant optimisation initiatives.

    Production Support

    • Participate in daily maintenance planning.
    • Work closely with production teams to minimise interruptions.
    • Assist in improving plant performance and equipment availability.
    • Support continuous improvement projects.

    Administration and Compliance

    • Maintain maintenance records and logs.
    • Complete inspection reports and compliance documentation.
    • Ensure maintenance activities comply with company standards.
    • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

    Team Leadership

    • Guide, mentor, and support assistants and apprentices.
    • Share technical knowledge with maintenance team members.
    • Promote teamwork and safe work practices.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4.
    • Qualified Millwright with a valid Trade Test (essential).
    • Minimum 5 years’ post-trade test experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
    • Valid Code B driver’s licence.
    • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience with industrial maintenance, plant systems, and automation.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.

    Recommended Experience

    The following will be advantageous:

    • Welding experience.
    • Boiler making experience.
    • Machining experience.
    • Additional industrial maintenance experience.
