    Job Description

     Job Purpose:
    The primary responsibility of the Linehaul Driver is to transport goods (including PAXI deliveries and consumer goods) safely, efficiently, and punctually between designated distribution hubs using heavy-duty vehicles. The driver must comply with traffic regulations, ensure cargo safety, and maintain vehicle condition.

     Key Responsibilities:

    • Operate heavy-duty truck tractors for long-distance hauls

    • Transport freight between hubs and distribution centres

    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections for roadworthiness

    • Secure cargo to prevent damage, loss, or shifting

    • Maintain accurate mileage and delivery logs

    • Adhere to route schedules, road laws, and safety protocols

    • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and report delays/incidents

    • Perform basic vehicle fault diagnosis and maintenance

    • Maintain customer satisfaction through safe and timely delivery practices

     Required Qualifications & Experience

    1. Vehicle Operation Experience

    • Truck Tractor Experience:

      • Minimum 3 years’ experience with 6×4 Truck Tractors (Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, MAN)

    • Trailer Experience:

      • Minimum 3 years’ experience with either:

        • 3-axle, 14.5m dry or refrigerated trailers

        • 6m x 12m tautliner trailers

    2. Licensing & Compliance

    • Valid Code 14 Driver’s License

    • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

    • Clear criminal and driving record

    3. Citizenship

    • South African citizen with a valid SA ID card

    4. References

    • At least 3 contactable and verifiable references

     Preferred Additional Skills

    • Mechanical knowledge for basic fault finding and repairs

    • Experience securing loads and handling various trailer types

    • Background in freight logistics or long-haul transport operations

     Work Conditions

    • Long-distance driving, including overnight routes

    • Shift work including nights, weekends, and public holidays

    • Exposure to changing weather and road conditions

    • Physically demanding, with periods of extended driving
