Job Description
VKB Group is a proudly South African agricultural organisation that supports farmers and provides products and services across the agricultural value chain. The Group operates through its regional brands, including VKB, GWK and NTK, and is involved in agriculture, processing, logistics and the supply of products to local and international markets.
VKB Retail is seeking a reliable, customer-focused and accurate Cashier to join its team in Vrede, Free State. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and controlling cash, account and card transactions handled at the store.
The role involves processing sales and customer payments, providing excellent customer service, managing receipts, completing back-office administrative duties, banking daily cash and assisting with stock counting and reconciliation. The ideal candidate should have strong numerical skills, computer literacy and the ability to communicate fluently in Afrikaans and English.
Key Responsibilities
Process point-of-sale transactions, including cash and credit sales.
Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
Receive customer payments and process the correct allocations.
Process card payments and perform related back-office duties.
Manage cash receipts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
Conduct daily banking of cash in accordance with company procedures.
Assist with stock counting and stock reconciliation.
Ensure that cash, account and card transactions are properly administered and controlled.
Handle customer queries and resolve conflicts professionally.
Maintain accuracy when processing payments and performing administrative tasks.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
– Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4.
Knowledge and Experience
Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of agricultural products.
Knowledge of Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs).
Experience in a similar cashier position will be an advantage.
Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central will be advantageous.
Fluency in both Afrikaans and English is essential due to the communication requirements of the position.
