    Role Purpose

    The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in the overall management and daily operations of the store. The role ensures company standards are maintained across housekeeping, merchandising, stock control, security, and customer service, while driving sales performance and managing staff effectively.

    Key Responsibilities

    Store Operations

    • Relieve the Store Manager in their absence and ensure smooth store operations.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and controls.

    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and visual merchandising.

    • Implement and monitor front-end controls.

    • Oversee the cash office and ensure accurate banking of money.

    Stock & Loss Control

    • Minimise stock loss through effective shrinkage control and security measures.

    • Monitor stock handling and inventory processes.

    Staff Management

    • Assist the Store Manager with staff supervision, discipline, and performance management.

    • Support staff productivity, motivation, and adherence to company standards.

    • Contribute to staff planning and operational efficiency.

    Sales & Customer Service

    • Drive customer service excellence on the sales floor.

    • Introduce and implement sales initiatives to achieve store targets.

    • Maintain productivity and service standards to maximise turnover.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric / Grade 12 (Mathematics advantageous) or NQF Level 4.

    • Previous experience managing people.

    • Previous experience managing a department.

    • Clothing retail experience (highly advantageous).
