Job Overview
The Area Sales Manager – Brands is responsible for overseeing and driving the performance of a group of Refinery, Code, Ayna, and SPCC stores within the Mangaung area. The role ensures the consistent and effective execution of the company’s operational strategy to maximise store performance across key result areas including sales, profitability, stock, shrinkage, costs, and people management.
This position requires a strong retail leader with extensive store management experience, a hands-on operational approach, and the ability to drive results through teams across multiple locations.
Purpose of the Role
To manage and optimise the performance of multiple retail stores by ensuring consistent operational excellence, strong people leadership, and effective implementation of company strategy, with the objective of achieving and exceeding sales and profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Profitability

Drive and exceed sales budgets and growth targets across all stores in the area

Optimise profitability through effective execution of operational processes

Monitor and manage costs to achieve financial targets
2. Store Operations & Compliance
-
Ensure consistent compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial controls

Oversee store administration to required standards

Implement and monitor company risk management and operational strategies
-
Ensure effective stock management and shrinkage control across all stores
3. People Management & Leadership
-
Ensure optimal staffing levels across the region
-
Provide strong leadership, coaching, and performance management to store teams
-
Communicate expectations clearly and manage job performance effectively
-
Build strong relationships and collaboration with internal stakeholders
4. Strategy Execution & Projects

Implement project plans to achieve defined business outcomes

Monitor performance and take corrective action where required

Ensure consistent execution of brand and operational standards across all stores
Qualifications & Experience
-
Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
-
Retail, Business, or Marketing Management diploma (advantageous)
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Store Manager in retail (essential)
-
Minimum 3 years managing a store or cluster of stores at Store Manager level
-
Proven experience managing sales, stock, shrinkage, costs, and people
Knowledge, Skills & Requirements
-
Strong understanding of retail store operations and performance management
-
Effective communication skills in English and a second language relevant to the region
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
-
Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years’ driving experience (essential)

Willingness and ability to travel extensively within and outside the region
-
Ability to interact effectively with teams and stakeholders at all levels
-
Must reside in or around Bloemfontein / Mangaung
