Job Overview

The Security Officer Supervisor will be responsible for supervising security functions carried out by Security Officers and ensuring that departmental security policies, procedures and standards are properly implemented.

The successful candidate will also perform security-related administrative duties, monitor security systems and provide support during investigations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision of Security Operations

Supervise Security Officers and monitor the execution of their duties.
Ensure adherence to and implementation of departmental security policies.
Monitor security activities to ensure effective protection of departmental personnel, property and assets.
Ensure that prescribed security procedures are followed.

Security Systems and Procedures

Monitor and maintain effective security systems.
Apply appropriate access control procedures.
Monitor the movement and control of equipment and store contents.
Implement prescribed emergency and security procedures.

Administration

Perform administrative functions associated with security operations.
Maintain relevant security records and documentation.
Ensure that security-related information is properly recorded and managed.

Investigation Support

Provide support during security-related investigations.
Assist with gathering relevant information and maintaining security records when required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 qualification.
Completed Basic Security Officer’s Training Course.
At least three years of relevant security experience.
Valid registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).

Knowledge and Competencies

The successful candidate should have knowledge of:

Access control procedures.
Measures for controlling and monitoring the movement of equipment and store contents.
Prescribed security procedures.
The authority and responsibilities of a Security Officer.
Emergency procedures.
Departmental security policies and procedures.
Security systems and operational practices.

The ability to supervise security personnel, maintain effective security operations and respond appropriately to security incidents will be important in this role.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a salary of:

R237,453 per annum (Salary Level 05)

This is a basic salary as specified in the vacancy advertisement.

Bloemfontein, Free State

This position is based within the Free State Provincial Treasury.
