Job Description
Econofoods is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious and customer-focused Festive Delivery Driver to join its logistics team in East End, Bloemfontein, on a temporary basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting and delivering goods safely, accurately and on time. Duties include conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining delivery documentation, monitoring vehicle condition, complying with road safety regulations and providing professional customer service.
The ideal candidate must have a valid Code 10 or Code 14 driving licence, a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP), and at least three to five years of driving experience. Previous experience in the FMCG retail industry will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the assigned delivery truck safely and responsibly.
Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is roadworthy.
Verify goods and delivery documentation to ensure accurate deliveries.
Deliver products to customers within the required timeframes.
Maintain accurate daily records, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery receipts, incidents and accidents.
Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse personnel and other stakeholders.
Respond to delivery-related questions and customer concerns promptly.
Report mechanical problems and vehicle maintenance requirements to the relevant personnel.
Keep the assigned truck clean, organised and properly equipped.
Ensure delivery documents and other required paperwork are readily available.
Comply with traffic laws, company policies and operational procedures.
Follow safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety standards.
Attend team meetings, coaching sessions and training.
Support colleagues and contribute to the achievement of operational targets.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
At least 3–5 years of relevant driving experience.
A valid Code 10 or Code 14 (EC) driving licence.
A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Experience in the FMCG retail industry will be advantageous.
