Job Overview
The Free State Department of Transport is seeking two Administration Clerks: Transport to provide administrative and operational support for departmental transport and fleet management functions.
The successful candidates will help ensure that vehicles are available for official duties, monitor compliance with departmental transport policies, administer the issuing and allocation of Fleet Management vehicles, maintain transport records and support various transport-related administrative processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen and provide documentary proof.
- Have Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 / NQF Level 4 or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.
- Demonstrate competency in the core functions of the position.
- Have general computer literacy.
- Be able to work independently and professionally.
- Demonstrate accountability and credibility.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess sound planning, organising, administrative and problem-solving skills.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate customer focus and responsiveness.
- Be willing to work under pressure and extended hours.
Added Advantage:
- Relevant courses in Transport, Fleet Management, Administration or a related field.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Vehicle Administration
- Ensure vehicles are available for official departmental duties when required.
- Issue Fleet Management vehicles to departmental officials.
- Administer permanent vehicle allocations.
- Manage general vehicle hire processes.
- Maintain accurate records of all general-hire vehicles leased to departments.
Transport Policy Compliance
- Ensure departmental drivers comply with applicable transport policies.
- Monitor transport-related processes and documentation.
- Provide administrative support to ensure transport procedures are properly followed.
Records & Administrative Support
- Administer processes related to transport support.
- File and retrieve transport records as required.
- Print attendance registers and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate and accessible transport records.
