    Job Overview

    Nedbank is looking for an 80 Hour Service Consultant to provide excellent client service while helping customers make effective use of digital and self-service banking solutions.

    The successful candidate will assist clients with digital banking, cash transactions, self-service devices and general banking queries, while ensuring compliance with security and operational procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Client Engagement

    • Welcome clients, establish their needs and verify required documentation.
    • Educate clients on digital banking, self-service functionality and available features.
    • Assist clients with downloading online applications and resolving login issues.
    • Help clients use self-service devices to obtain statements, cards and other documentation.
    • Assist clients with purchasing value-added services such as prepaid data and airtime.
    • Address concerns regarding queues and digital devices.
    • Keep clients informed about the progress of their applications and requests.
    • Identify service and digital needs and facilitate suitable solutions.
    • Assist clients in completing service requests online.
    • Identify quality sales leads and facilitate cross-selling by referring clients to the appropriate departments.
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
    • Take ownership of client requests from start to finish and arrange alternative assistance when necessary.
    • Provide knowledgeable and professional client service.

    Business Operations

    • Process cash transactions over the counter.
    • Complete daily control checklists for teller, enquiries and foreign exchange functions.
    • Balance and secure branch stock, including cards.
    • Manage queues and prioritise clients with special needs.
    • Destroy outdated stock as required.
    • Prepare documents for inter-bank transfers and courier handovers.
    • Balance and replenish cash in ATMs and other self-service devices.
    • Perform first-line maintenance on devices and replenish consumables.
    • Execute cash management, efficiency and recycling strategies.
    • Identify and report discrepancies in cash holdings and take corrective action.
    • Process deposits, withdrawals, change-for-change and transfer requests.
    • Process foreign exchange requests in line with relevant procedures.

    Risk and Compliance

    • Manage counter and drop-safe limits according to policy.
    • Prevent fraud and financial losses by following authentication procedures and mandates.
    • Adhere to Nedbank’s security, governance, risk and compliance requirements.
    • Ensure all transactions are processed according to applicable policies and procedures.

    Minimum Requirements

    Experience:

    • 1–2 years’ experience in retail or banking client service, cash handling, technology-supported service or first-line problem resolution.
    • 2–3 years’ experience in a customer service or client-facing role.

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma.
    • Banking Services qualification, such as a Higher Certificate in Banking Services at NQF Level 5.
    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
    • A FAIS-approved qualification of at least 120 credits will be advantageous.
