Job Overview
ER24 is seeking an Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) to join its Bloemfontein team.
The successful candidate will respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care within their scope of practice, while ensuring operational readiness and maintaining professional patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the ambulance and team are operationally ready for emergency calls.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide appropriate patient care.
- Administer intermediate medical care in accordance with the applicable scope of practice.
- Complete and maintain accurate Patient Report Forms.
- Promote and maintain a positive public image of ER24.
- Report near misses, slips and adverse events.
- Follow relevant clinical and operational procedures.
- Apply best-practice principles when attending to patients.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) Certificate — essential.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience.
- 1 year of AEA experience will be advantageous.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge and application of best practices.
- Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Knowledge of Patient Report Forms.
- Knowledge of local facilities, travel routes and demographics.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an emergency medical environment.
