Job Description
The Senior COID Employer Audit Officer is responsible for conducting employer audits and ensuring compliance with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
The role involves proactive and reactive auditing, compliance inspections, advocacy regarding COIDA legislation, and enforcement activities. The successful candidate will also supervise resources within the section and support compliance management initiatives within the province.
This position is suitable for candidates with experience in auditing, accounting, compliance management, inspections, and enforcement environments.
Responsibilities
COIDA Audits
- Conduct proactive employer audits relating to COIDA
- Conduct reactive audits based on complaints, investigations, or identified risks
- Review employer compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
- Perform employer assessments and auditing activities
Compliance and Enforcement
- Enforce compliance with COIDA and related legislation
- Identify non-compliance and implement corrective measures
- Support inspections and enforcement activities
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies and legal requirements
Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct advocacy and awareness initiatives related to COIDA
- Engage with employers and stakeholders regarding compliance obligations
- Promote understanding of occupational injury and disease legislation
Resource Supervision
- Supervise staff and resources within the section
- Support effective operational and administrative management
- Promote efficient service delivery and accountability
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess an undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) recognized by SAQA in:
- Financial Accounting
- BCom Accounting
- Internal Auditing
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in:
- Compliance Management
- Auditing
- Accounting
- Inspections and Enforcement environment
Knowledge Requirements
Candidates should have knowledge of:
- Data analytics and information interpretation
- Relevant laws, regulations, and legislation
- Financial risk management and control
- Departmental policies and procedures
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
