    Job Description

    The university is seeking a qualified academic to teach, supervise, and conduct research in the field of Comparative Education, Education Management and Leadership, and Teacher Education. The role involves undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, research publication, postgraduate supervision, and participation in faculty leadership and administration.

    The successful candidate will contribute to the academic development of students while strengthening the faculty’s research output and teaching quality.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be expected to:

    Teaching and Learning

    • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in:
      • Comparative Education
      • Education Management and Leadership
      • Teacher Education
    • Participate in the faculty’s Work Integrated Learning (Teaching Practice) programme
    • Conduct student consultations and academic support sessions

    Research

    • Participate in faculty research activities
    • Produce research outputs in accredited journals and other academic publications
    • Present research at conferences and academic events

    Curriculum Development

    • Contribute to curriculum development in Comparative Education and related fields
    • Assist in improving academic programmes and teaching methods

    Postgraduate Supervision

    • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students
    • Guide students with research methodology and academic writing

    Administration and Leadership

    • Work collaboratively with faculty colleagues
    • Participate in leadership, administration, and departmental activities
    • Support faculty initiatives and academic projects

    Minimum Requirements

    Academic Qualifications

    Permanent Appointment

    Applicants must have:

    • A relevant Doctoral Degree (NQF Level 10) with a focus on Comparative Education

    Contract Appointment (5 years)

    Applicants may apply with:

    • A relevant Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) focused on Comparative Education
    • Must obtain a doctoral degree within five years to qualify for permanent appointment

    • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Certified copies of qualifications
    • SAQA accreditation for foreign qualifications
    • Certified ID copy or passport
    • Proof of employment from current/previous employer
    • Proof of doctoral registration
    • Abstract of thesis/dissertation showing relevance to Comparative Education
    • Formal teaching qualification certificate

    Experience Requirements

    Applicants must have:

    • A formal teaching qualification such as:
      • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
      • Advanced Diploma in Education
      • Equivalent teaching qualification

    AND

    • Minimum of:
      • 5 years’ relevant school experience
        OR
      • 2 years’ experience in higher education, research, or development environments

    Research Requirements

    Candidates must provide evidence of:

    • Manuscripts suitable for publication
    • Potential or actual accredited journal publications
    • Conference presentations (poster or oral presentations)
