Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Cashier to join its Preller Square store in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service at the point of sale, process transactions accurately and ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s policies and standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional and friendly customer service.
- Process purchases and accept approved payment methods, including cash, cards, vouchers and coupons.
- Operate the till accurately and maintain cash drawers.
- Process refunds and authorised merchandise exchanges.
- Process customer loyalty cards and partner rewards programmes.
- Ensure cash is secured in the drop safe according to company procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of daily takings.
- Ensure line voids and price changes are approved by the supervisor.
- Ensure outgoing stock, items and scripts are scanned and paid for.
- Monitor and report suspicious behaviour to management.
- Handle customer queries regarding store merchandise.
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the relevant supervisor or management.
- Stay informed about current promotions and sales.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service, security and communication procedures.
- Protect personal till codes and passwords.
- Help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Essential Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till-operation experience.
- Computer literate, including MS Office.
- Sound numerical skills.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Basic customer service skills.
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
