Job Description
The Lecturer – Intermediate Phase will be responsible for the training and education of students, providing student consultations, contributing to the academic development of the discipline through research, and supporting Academic Development Consultants.
The lecturer will facilitate lectures, tutorials and student support activities while helping to maintain high teaching and learning standards on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lecturing and Teaching
- Deliver lectures and facilitate student support workshops.
- Conduct subject-specific tutorials where required.
- Prepare, lecture and mark according to the academic timetable.
- Provide teaching and learning support to students.
- Communicate and teach relevant academic conventions.
Academic Development
- Assist the Academic Development Coordinator in developing teaching and learning capacity.
- Support contract lecturers in maintaining academic standards.
- Work with librarians to promote information literacy among students and lecturers.
- Coordinate and participate in lecturer forums and faculty meetings under the guidance of Academic Development Consultants.
Research and Development
- Contribute to academic research and development within the discipline.
- Assist with initiatives aimed at improving teaching and learning.
Student and Team Support
- Provide appropriate academic support and consultations to students.
- Work collaboratively with academic and support teams.
- Contribute to a positive academic environment focused on student success.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum B.Ed. Honours degree.
- Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification specialising in the Intermediate Phase.
- The undergraduate qualification must include Northern Sotho as a major up to third-year level.
Experience
- At least 3 years’ school teaching experience in the Intermediate Phase.
- 1–3 years’ lecturing experience would be advantageous.

Working Hours
Classes are scheduled between 08:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday. Actual working hours will depend on the modules allocated to the successful candidate and the academic timetable.
