    Job Purpose

    The Specialist: Regional Security is responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing physical security strategies, systems, and operations across the Free State and Northern Cape regions. The role focuses on protecting Nedbank’s employees, clients, facilities, ATMs, branches, information, and assets through proactive risk management, crime prevention initiatives, security technology governance, incident investigations, and vendor management.

    The successful candidate will ensure compliance with security standards, support business continuity, provide security intelligence, and implement effective risk mitigation measures while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Security Management

    • Align security objectives with Nedbank’s strategic goals and business plans.
    • Identify opportunities to improve security processes and operational efficiency.
    • Provide security solutions that support business operations.
    • Implement risk-based security measures to protect staff, clients, and assets.
    • Manage security budgets, contracts, and technology investments responsibly.

    Physical Security Technology and Infrastructure

    • Manage and optimize:
      • Access control systems
      • CCTV surveillance systems
      • Intrusion detection systems
      • Panic alarm systems
    • Ensure continuous system reliability and compliance with security standards.
    • Review security specifications for branch and ATM projects.
    • Validate floor plans and ensure compliance with physical security requirements.
    • Oversee installation, upgrades, and maintenance of security systems.
    • Monitor project delivery timelines and quality standards.
    • Take corrective action where installations or projects fall behind schedule.

    Risk Management and Compliance

    • Conduct physical security risk assessments.
    • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate security threats.
    • Monitor crime trends and provide intelligence reports.
    • Escalate policy, procedural, and control weaknesses.
    • Support business continuity planning through proactive risk management.
    • Stay informed on emerging security risks, technologies, and fraud prevention trends.

    Incident Management and Investigations

    • Investigate physical security incidents including:
      • Theft
      • Vandalism
      • Security breaches
      • Criminal activities affecting branches and ATMs
    • Conduct root cause analysis.
    • Preserve evidence and maintain accurate investigation records.
    • Participate in post-incident reviews and recommend corrective actions.
    • Implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence of incidents.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Communicate security threats and crime trends effectively.
    • Provide security advice and recommendations to business units.
    • Support informed decision-making through risk intelligence and reporting.
    • Promote security awareness and governance across the region.

    Vendor and Contract Management

    • Manage security service providers and contractors.
    • Monitor compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Evaluate vendor performance and service quality.
    • Coordinate project implementation with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure vendors comply with Nedbank security policies and standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential Qualification

    • Diploma in Security Risk Management or Risk Management.

    Preferred Qualification

    • Degree in Security Management.
    • Degree in Risk Management or a related field.

    Professional Registration

    Preferred:

    • PSIRA Grade A Security Practitioner Registration.

    Experience Requirements

    Essential

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a security and safety environment.

    Preferred

    • 7 to 10 years’ experience in:
      • Physical Security Management
      • Corporate Security
      • Risk Management
      • Safety Management
      • Banking Security Operations
