    Job Description

    The Shop Assistant Cashier is responsible for delivering excellent customer service through efficient point-of-sale (POS) operations, merchandising, and store support activities. The role focuses on creating a positive shopping experience by assisting customers, processing transactions accurately, promoting loyalty programmes, and maintaining store presentation standards.

    The successful candidate will serve as a brand ambassador for Clicks while ensuring customers receive professional, friendly, and efficient service.

    Key Responsibilities

    Point of Sale (POS) Operations

    • Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
    • Scan merchandise and collect payments correctly.
    • Process ClubCard rewards and loyalty transactions.
    • Ensure all POS procedures are followed.
    • Minimize transaction errors and discrepancies.

    Cash Handling

    • Handle cash and payment transactions safely and responsibly.
    • Maintain accuracy when processing cash, card, and electronic payments.
    • Follow company cash control and security procedures.
    • Balance cash transactions according to store requirements.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
    • Assist customers with enquiries and product information.
    • Provide a friendly, professional, and welcoming shopping experience.
    • Act as a brand ambassador for Clicks.

    ClubCard Promotion

    • Promote the Clicks ClubCard loyalty programme.
    • Encourage customers to join the ClubCard programme.
    • Achieve ClubCard participation and enrolment targets.
    • Explain ClubCard benefits to customers.

    Sales and Promotions

    • Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
    • Support sales initiatives and promotional campaigns.
    • Help customers identify products that meet their needs.
    • Contribute to store sales performance.

    Merchandising

    • Assist with merchandising activities and product displays.
    • Ensure shelves are stocked and products are displayed correctly.
    • Maintain visual merchandising standards.
    • Support promotional and seasonal displays.

    Housekeeping and Store Presentation

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store.
    • Ensure work areas are neat and presentable.
    • Support general housekeeping activities.
    • Help maintain a positive shopping environment.

    Product Knowledge

    • Maintain knowledge of products, promotions, and store events.
    • Stay informed about new products and ranges.
    • Provide accurate information to customers.
    • Assist customers in locating products within the store.

    • Support the company’s vision and values.
    • Promote Clicks as the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    Essential

    • Grade 12 (Matric).

    Desirable

    • Mathematics (50%) at Grade 12 level.
    • English (50%) at Grade 12 level.

    Experience

    Desirable

    • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
    • Retail or FMCG store operations experience.
    • Cash handling or cashier experience.

    Note: Experience is advantageous but not mandatory, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity.
