Job Overview
A Winder Electrician Underground is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing electrical systems associated with mine winding plants and related underground equipment. The role ensures the safe and efficient operation of winding machinery while complying with mining safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Completed Trade Test and certified as a qualified Electrician.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a winding plant environment.
- Valid driver’s licence (where applicable).
- Must be willing and able to work standby duties and overtime.
- Clear security screening record.
- Medically fit to work in the designated mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on winding plant electrical systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on winding equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with mine health and safety standards.
- Minimise equipment downtime through efficient fault-finding.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Participate in standby and emergency breakdown duties.
- Test and commission electrical equipment after repairs.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with statutory regulations and company standards.
