Tender Overview
Tokologo Local Municipality invites suitably qualified Registered Occupational Health Medical Practitioners to submit bids for the provision of Medical Surveillance Services for municipal employees over a period of three years.
The successful service provider will be responsible for delivering professional occupational health services aimed at promoting employee health, preventing occupational diseases and injuries, and ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
Scope of Work
The appointed service provider will be required to:
- Conduct annual medical surveillance for municipal employees.
- Perform occupational health assessments and medical examinations.
- Complete employee health questionnaires and medical record reviews.
- Conduct physiological and occupational health tests, including:
- Audiometry (hearing tests)
- Spirometry (lung function tests)
- Vision screening
- Other relevant occupational health examinations
- Provide professional medical consultations.
- Operate at designated municipal sites or through a mobile clinic where required.
- Supply, maintain, and operate all required occupational health equipment.
- Submit detailed medical surveillance reports and recommendations within 14 days of each assessment.
- Provide emergency occupational health consultations when required.
- Travel to municipal areas within Boshof, Dealesville, and Hertzogville.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all employee medical information.
- Deliver services in accordance with professional ethics and applicable legislation.
Minimum Requirements
Interested bidders must have:
- MBChB (Medical Degree).
- Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Occupational Health and Safety.
- 3–5 years’ experience in Occupational Health.
- Experience providing occupational health services to at least three institutions.
- Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Registration with the South African Society of Occupational Medicine (SASOM) will be an added advantage.
Technical Requirements
The successful bidder must demonstrate the ability to:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational health assessments.
- Perform and interpret audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, and other occupational health tests.
- Supply and maintain all required medical surveillance equipment.
- Produce comprehensive medical reports within the required timeframes.
- Operate mobile health services where necessary.
- Travel throughout the Tokologo Local Municipality.
- Provide emergency occupational health support when required.
- Comply with all relevant occupational health legislation and confidentiality requirements.
