Job Description
VKB Agri Processors is seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join its finance team in Reitz. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, forecasting, audit support and financial compliance.
The role provides exposure to multiple entities and offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making and continuous improvement within a growing agricultural business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Analyse financial performance and provide insights to management.
- Complete accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting process.
- Assist with financial forecasting and planning.
- Analyse budget variances and identify improvement opportunities.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT, provisional tax and income tax returns.
- Manage SARS queries and compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax and financial legislation.
Audit & Risk Management
- Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external audits.
- Respond to audit requests accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and internal controls.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support and optimise financial processes and systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Participate in finance and business improvement projects.
Team Collaboration
- Support and guide junior finance team members.
- Develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Promote accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- BCom Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
- Completed articles or professional affiliation such as SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA will be advantageous.
Experience Required
- 3–5 years’ experience in a financial accounting environment.
- Proven experience in:
- Financial reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Taxation
- Auditing
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have knowledge of:
- IFRS
- South African tax legislation
- Management accounting and reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Treasury and cash-flow management
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- ERP systems
