Job Description
Econo Foods is seeking four temporary Delivery Assistants to support drivers with the safe, accurate and timely delivery of frozen food products to customers.
The Delivery Assistant will assist with loading and unloading products, obtaining customer signatures on Proof of Delivery documents, verifying payments where required, maintaining delivery documentation and ensuring products are safely handled throughout the delivery process. The role also involves providing professional customer service and supporting the driver in completing deliveries efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with transporting and delivering products safely and on time.
- Load and unload products from delivery vehicles.
- Present Proof of Delivery (POD) documents to customers and obtain signatures.
- Accurately record delivery information.
- Assist with invoice correction forms when discrepancies occur.
- Assist with verifying customer payments, including cash or cheques, where applicable.
- Handle products carefully to prevent damage or loss.
- Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist with navigating delivery routes using maps or GPS.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Record returned or damaged products and report discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle cab.
- Safeguard stock while making deliveries, including overnight routes.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including PODs, invoices and payment receipts.
- Follow all safety procedures and use the required PPE.
- Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Contribute to the achievement of team and operational goals.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a warehousing or logistics environment.
- Experience in the FMCG retail industry will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
