Job Description
Econo Foods is seeking five temporary Warehouse Operators to join its East End logistics team in Bloemfontein. The successful candidates will be responsible for loose case and layer picking, accurately selecting, counting and packing products according to picking instructions.
The role is focused on ensuring accurate order fulfilment, maintaining product quality, maximising pallet stability and following warehouse safety procedures. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced FMCG environment and committed to accuracy and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct loose case and layer picking according to picking instructions.
- Accurately select and gather required products.
- Pack picked products securely and efficiently.
- Ensure correct packaging, labelling and quality standards.
- Maximise pallet stability during picking and transportation.
- Count and verify picked products for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and report out-of-stock and short-picked items.
- Use picking equipment to locate and move products efficiently.
- Work with the inventory control team to maintain accurate stock records.
- Report stock discrepancies and other issues.
- Keep the warehouse and work area clean and organised.
- Report damaged products, incorrect labelling or packaging concerns.
- Participate in relevant training and workshops.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Follow all safety procedures and use the required PPE.
- Maintain overall workplace safety compliance.
- Contribute to the achievement of warehouse and team targets.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a similar warehouse position.
- Experience in the FMCG retail industry will be an advantage.
- Valid Electric Pallet Jack Licence.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
