Job Description
The Departmental Head is a middle management leadership role responsible for managing and supporting teachers within the Humanities department, specifically:
- Geography
- Tourism
- History
- Social Sciences
The role ensures effective teaching, curriculum delivery, and academic excellence within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Lead and manage subject teachers within the department
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning
- Monitor learner performance and academic progress
- Support curriculum implementation and assessment
Management and Administration
- Coordinate departmental planning and timetables
- Manage teaching resources and subject budgets
- Ensure compliance with education policies
- Report on departmental performance
Staff Support and Development
- Mentor and support educators in the department
- Conduct classroom observations
- Encourage professional development and training
Learner Support
- Monitor learner achievement and behaviour
- Implement intervention strategies for academic improvement
