Job Purpose
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in the daily operation of the store and assumes responsibility during the Store Manager’s absence. The role ensures company standards are maintained in housekeeping, merchandising, stock control, cash management, security, customer service, and staff supervision while helping the store achieve its sales targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily banking of store cash.
- Relieve the Store Manager when absent.
- Maintain company standards of housekeeping and merchandising.
- Monitor and reduce stock shrinkage and losses.
- Ensure store security procedures are followed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist the Store Manager with staff supervision and management.
- Ensure front-end cash controls are implemented.
- Oversee cash office operations.
- Minimise stock loss through effective stock control.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Introduce and support sales initiatives to achieve store targets.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 (Mathematics is an advantage) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Previous experience managing people.
- Previous experience managing a department.
- Previous clothing retail experience is highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate should have retail supervisory or management experience, demonstrate strong leadership abilities, be able to manage staff and store operations efficiently, maintain excellent customer service standards, and contribute to achieving sales and operational targets. Experience in the clothing retail industry will be a significant advantage.
