     Salary Package

    • R1 266 714 per annum (all-inclusive package)

    Package Structure:

    • 70% Basic Salary
    • 30% Flexible portion, including:

     Job Purpose

    To lead and manage the development and implementation of road safety programmes, ensuring improved road user behaviour, reduced accidents, and effective capacity building initiatives across the province.

     Minimum Requirements

    • NQF Level 7 qualification (Bachelor’s Degree) in:
      • Transport Management
      • Traffic Law Enforcement
      • Public Administration
      • Social Sciences
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience at middle/senior management level
    • Experience in transport, traffic management, or road safety environments
    • Nyukela (SMS Pre-Entry Certificate) – mandatory
    • Valid driver’s licence

     Key Responsibilities

    1. Road Safety Programme Management

    • Develop and implement road safety programmes and strategies
    • Align provincial initiatives with national road safety goals

    2. Stakeholder Coordination

    • Collaborate with:
      • NGOs
      • Municipalities
      • National and provincial departments
      • Agencies like South African National Roads Agency Limited

    3. Public Awareness & Education

    • Lead road safety campaigns and workshops
    • Target schools, universities, and the general public
    • Promote awareness initiatives such as festive season campaigns

    4. Monitoring & Evaluation

    • Assess the impact of road safety interventions
    • Conduct research to identify high-risk areas
    • Develop strategies to reduce accidents

    5. Policy & Strategy Development

    • Develop and implement road safety policies and operational plans
    • Ensure alignment with national decisions (e.g., MINMEC, RTMC)

    6. Capacity Building & Oversight

    • Oversee road safety forums in the province
    • Manage performance of road safety officers
    • Oversee traffic training college operations

    7. Resource Management

    • Manage human, financial, and asset resources
    • Ensure compliance with public sector regulations
