Job Overview
The Assistant Officer: Incident Response Officer will be responsible for responding to reported incidents, conducting preliminary investigations and supporting the effective management of security incidents on campus.
The successful candidates will also conduct patrols and building inspections, identify potential safety and security risks, assist with emergency evacuations and protest management, and support the shift leader when required.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Responding to reported incidents.
- Conducting preliminary investigations relating to reported incidents and cases.
- Cordon off incident scenes and take photographs.
- Liaising with the shift leader regarding the management of incident scenes.
- Conducting visible security patrols.
- Conducting building inspections.
- Identifying safety and security risks and compiling reports for the shift leader.
- Participating in emergency evacuation exercises and protest management.
- Assisting the shift leader with managing incidents during shifts.
- Standing in as a shift leader when requested.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following inherent requirements:
- Grade 12 or a National Vocational Certificate on NQF Level 4.
- A valid Grade B PSIRA Certificate.
- An Armed Response Certificate.
- A valid South African Code 8 driving licence.
- At least one year of relevant work experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Recommended Qualifications and Experience

- An Incident Investigation Certificate.
- Experience in the higher education sector.
- A Crowd Control Certificate.
