    Job Purpose

    The Area Phlebotomy Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing a cluster of Care Centres to ensure operational excellence, high-quality patient care, compliance with quality standards, and effective people management. The role focuses on developing Phlebotomy Leads, improving patient experiences, driving continuous improvement, and creating a high-performance work environment.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Lead and manage multiple Care Centres within the assigned area.
    • Ensure operational efficiency across all Care Centres.
    • Promote high standards of patient care and service delivery.
    • Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Develop and mentor Phlebotomy Leads and team members.
    • Foster a high-performance, learning-focused workplace culture.
    • Enhance employee engagement and leadership development.
    • Support organisational goals through effective operational leadership.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Operational Management

    • Oversee the daily operations of multiple Care Centres.
    • Ensure consistent service delivery and operational excellence.
    • Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
    • Monitor and improve workflow efficiencies.
    • Ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

    Quality Assurance

    • Maintain high standards of clinical quality and patient care.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and company standards.
    • Monitor service quality and implement improvement initiatives.
    • Promote continuous quality improvement across Care Centres.

    Leadership and People Management

    • Lead, mentor, and support Phlebotomy Leads.
    • Build high-performing and engaged teams.
    • Manage staff performance and development.
    • Support recruitment, succession planning, and talent development.
    • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

    Financial and Resource Management

    • Manage operational budgets effectively.
    • Allocate resources efficiently.
    • Optimise resource utilisation to support sustainable business growth.
    • Monitor operational costs and financial performance.

    Communication and Stakeholder Management

    • Communicate organisational strategies effectively.
    • Build strong working relationships with employees and stakeholders.
    • Ensure clear communication across all Care Centres.
    • Support organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Recognised qualification in Phlebotomy or Nursing.
    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
    • Formal management qualification.

    Experience

    • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience.
    • Up to 6 years’ experience working within a Care Centre or pathology environment.
