Main Purpose of the Job
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care
- Work according to the Scope of Practice
- Support theatre and surgical procedures as a scrub nurse
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Care
- Deliver quality patient care in the theatre environment
- Assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor and support patient safety
Risk & Safety Management
- Identify and manage risks
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards
- Maintain compliance with nursing legislation and procedures
Patient Experience
- Create a positive and supportive environment for patients
- Ensure professional and compassionate care
Administration & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate nursing records
- Ensure utilised stock and equipment are correctly charged
Staff Development
- Help create a learning environment
- Support ongoing staff competence and training
Minimum Requirements
Essential Education
- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Midwifery qualification
- Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in a relevant specialty area
Experience Requirements
Essential Experience
- No minimum experience required
Desired Experience
- 1 year post-postgraduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit
Required Knowledge & Skills
Applicants should have knowledge of:
- Infection prevention and control
- Pharmacology
- Nursing processes and procedures
- Scientific nursing principles
- Patient assessment
- Nursing record keeping
- Relevant nursing legislation
- Risk identification and management
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans
Additional Advantage
Training in:
- ACLS
- ATLS
- PALS
