Job Overview
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is seeking a qualified HPCSA Phlebotomist to join its Welkom Mobile Blood Collection team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting safe, high-quality blood donations while delivering professional and compassionate service to blood donors. The role also includes donor assessments, clinic preparation, administrative duties, and ensuring compliance with SANBS standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing blood donation clinics before collection sessions.
- Assisting with clinic closure after donation activities.
- Registering blood donors accurately, professionally, and courteously.
- Conducting basic physical assessments to determine donor suitability.
- Performing phlebotomy procedures according to SANBS Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality blood collection.
- Completing general administrative duties related to donor collections.
- Assisting in achieving blood collection targets.
- Maintaining professional relationships with donors and colleagues.
- Promoting a positive donor experience through excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A recognised qualification as a Phlebotomist.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- A valid and current CPR Certificate (to be renewed as required).
- A valid Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
- Willingness to drive a company vehicle when required.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and variable working hours based on operational needs.
- Physical ability to:
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift and carry loads of up to 14 kg.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
- Climb stairs when required.
