Job Description
IIE Rosebank College, part of the ADvTECH Group, is looking for an experienced and academically driven Head of Academics to oversee academic delivery, programme management and student support at its Bloemfontein campus.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Campus Head and Dean Academic Support, ensuring the effective operation of academic programmes, supporting academic staff and students, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including the Council on Higher Education (CHE).
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor academic policies.
- Approve students’ academic requests and exception applications.
- Manage assessment procedures, including security, invigilation, marks and assessment releases.
- Approve lecturers in accordance with the relevant appointment processes.
- Oversee student, lecturer and technology surveys.
- Monitor the implementation of peer-review processes and action plans.
- Oversee lecturer class visits and implementation plans.
- Manage the campus graduation process and outstanding documentation.
- Develop and manage academic timetables.
- Support the recruitment and contracting of lecturers.
- Maintain and update timetables on the Student Information System.
- Analyse attendance statistics as part of the At-Risk process.
- Manage formative and summative assessment processes.
- Oversee moderation processes.
- Manage applications for additional assessment sittings.
- Ensure academic reports are distributed on time.
- Communicate academic changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide academic support to Programme Managers, Programme Coordinators and Faculty Team Leaders.
- Manage programme implementation administration.
- Manage the lecturing budget.
- Monitor and approve part-time lecturer claims.
- Ensure student wellness, counselling, work-readiness and student development functions are delivered effectively.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A PhD at NQF Level 10.
- 3–5 years’ experience in academic administration within a decentralised environment.
- 3–5 years’ experience in student development and student support.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a general management position.
- A suitable combination of experience and education providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- At least one year of experience with CHE accreditation processes.
