    Job Overview

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Frontshop Assistant to join its Goldfields store in Welkom. The successful candidate will support customers, maintain excellent merchandising standards and assist with stock, point-of-sale transactions and general store operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure products are fully stocked, neatly displayed and within their sell-by dates.
    • Restock merchandise to maximise sales.
    • Follow up on customer out-of-stock queries.
    • Ensure delivered and storeroom stock is correctly packed and stored.
    • Maintain accurate displays, labels and pricing.
    • Report pricing discrepancies to management.
    • Keep the storeroom neat and organised.
    • Develop product knowledge to effectively assist customers.
    • Assist with back shopping and stock replenishment.
    • Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses.
    • Process customer purchases and payments, including cash, cards, vouchers and coupons.
    • Process loyalty cards and approved rewards programmes.
    • Handle authorised merchandise exchanges and returns.
    • Secure cash in the drop safe according to company procedures.
    • Ensure line voids and price changes are properly authorised.
    • Maintain accurate cash flow.
    • Conduct stock rotation and follow stock-control procedures.
    • Report low stock, damaged, expired and out-of-stock products.
    • Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking.
    • Assist with loading and off-loading stock when required.
    • Maintain proper housekeeping and dispose of packaging correctly.
    • Provide friendly, professional and helpful customer service.
    • Report customer complaints and compliments to management.
    • Assist with training new and existing team members.
    • Ensure outgoing stock, items and scripts are scanned and paid for.
    • Report suspicious behaviour involving staff or customers.
    • Follow Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, health and safety requirements, and uniform standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
    • 0–6 months’ retail work experience.

    Advantageous:

    • 1 year’s retail experience.
    • Certification in Retail Business Management.
    • Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Sound numerical skills.
    • SAP knowledge.

    • Knowledge of retail operations and administration.
    • Ability to identify problems, find solutions and escalate issues appropriately.
    • Basic arithmetic skills.
    • Good verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to respond to customer queries promptly.

    Special Conditions

    • Must be able to work retail hours.
    • Must be a South African citizen.
    • MIE screening, no criminal record and clear credit rating required.
    • Driver’s licence and own reliable transport required.
